Precast Concrete Water Retention and Detention Tanks

Underground Stormwater Storage

One of the major components of storm water management is flow control, particularly in developed areas where buildings, parking lots, roads, and other impervious surfaces replace open space. As imperviousness increases, there is less area available for infiltration, and the amount of water runoff increases.  This may cause streams to be prone to flash floods.  Many municipalities require newly-developed areas to implement measures to capture or control the increase in peak runoff for a design storm event.

Underground precast water retention chambers are sized according to your property footprint and volume requirements, and are often installed under parking lots.  From manufacturing plants to grocery and department stores, the concrete vessel is hidden under your valuable parking spaces.  Our precast concrete underground tank captures water runoff & retains the liquid throughout the storm event.  Then, the stored water can be released directly back into surface waters through an outlet pipe.  If the outlet pipe is located at the bottom of the basin so that all of the water eventually drains out and it remains dry between storms, this is termed a dry basin, or detention tank. Retention tanks have the outlet or orifice at a higher point so that the precast concrete storage structure retains a permanent pool of water.
At Advance Concrete Products, we don't just have one type of system for stormwater runoff detention.  We have different options to fit your property type or constraints. These detention and retention tank systems can be installed quickly.  For instance, installation of an 80' x 75' x 7'-3" tall precast concrete retention chamber for a car dealership took less than a week.

Panelized Precast Concrete Stormwater Tank

A panelized pre-cast tank can be installed to match your property size in length, width, height, and shape. The concrete column supports take up less space in the retention or detention chamber than a solid wall, maximizing the gallon capacity in your allotted square footage. The chamber doesn't have to be square or rectangular either. If you want to use every inch of your available property, call Advance Concrete Products and we'll help figure out how to make the most of your underground space so you can install that parking lot on top of your new panelized precast concrete stormwater retention chamber. The tank shown in the following photographs is custom sized as a trapezoid. This structure was installed in less than a week top to bottom so the customer could fully utilize his parking spaces on top of the chamber. Contact us today to find out how you can use that valuable property, even with a stormwater runoff requirement, by emailing or call 248-887-4173.

ADSPAN Stormwater Runoff Storage Tank

Do you prefer one large underground detention tank to retain stormwater runoff? Our ADSPAN system provides the clearest span for maximum interior gallon capacity, exceeds AASHTO H-20 loading requirements, and you'll get the largest sections for least amount of picks, which will save money on installation hours and crane time. You only have 2'-6" vertical feet to install a retention or detention chamber? No problem, Advance Concrete can manufacture precast concrete sections from 2'-0" tall to 10'-0" tall at our facility, stock them, and be ready to deliver to your job site when you are ready.

Tunnel Stormwater Detention and Retention System

Advance Concrete Products offers a versatile, modular system of tunnels to create channels for your precast concrete detention chamber. Sections can be manufactured in a wide variety of lengths, widths, and heights to best suit your property footprint. We can manufacture the channels as narrow as 2'-6".  As always, you can trust each precast concrete module will be specifically designed for your amount of earth cover, type of traffic loading, and gallon capacity. The detention tank footprint can be made as square, rectangular, an L-shape, even with turns to snake though your property if necessary, while still providing good storage volume per cross sectional area. Once the modular concrete sections are installed, you can backfill, and traffic can move freely over the top of the structure after paving. Precast concrete's superior strength makes it the best solution for placement under heavily loaded surface conditions. And remember, with a specific gravity of 2.40, Advance Concrete Products' concrete structures resist buoyancy in water table applications, unlike other materials used for detention tanks.
